Creator

Through my choreographic work, I look to co-create with the students making them active participants in the decision-making process. I greatly value the creative process as a learning opportunity and not just a space for implementing and imitating someone else’s movement. I have great respect for the individuality of each dancer and try to challenge and develop each student within their potential. Dance is enriched through the observation of daily life, gesture, movement, emotion, etc., I encourage my students to take time to observe themselves and their environment and document their experiences to then share them with the class. I also promote learning not only about dance, but also about all the performance elements and their value within a choreographic work: lighting, design, execution, stage crew, scenography, costumes, production, promotion, and the members of the janitorial staff who all play an equally important role in any production, all should be treated and valued as co-creators of the work.
